Rev. Jerry Hamstra
February 3, 2013
Sermons

In this passage Jesus promises rest to laboring and heavy laden people who come to him. In the context of Matthew labouring and being heavy laden has to do with the burden of the legalistic religion of the Jewish religious leaders. The rest that Jesus promises is both reconciliation with God and the discipleship of those who are right with God in Christ.

Rev. Jerry Hamstra
January 6, 2013
Sermons

Psalm 90 deals with the brevity of life. Life is short and we must die because of the wrath of God against sin. There is hope for God’s people, however, because the Lord is their dwelling place and he will establish the word of their hands. We are taught to live in the light of these realities.
