Through Amos, God promises that he will restore the Kingdom of Israel under a Davidic King. This promise is fulfilled in Jesus and the establishment of his Kingdom.

Jesus here makes it clear that it is only by hearing and doing his words that we build a life that will stand firm on the day of judgment. The sermon considers this theme in the light of the broader gospel message of salvation by grace and not works.
