The disciples of John the Baptist were disappointed that people were going to Jesus instead of John. In contrast, John the Baptist rejoiced because people were following Jesus instead of him. Like John we must learn that “He must become greater; I must become less.”

The Love of God for a Perishing World – John 3:16-18

In this passage we are taught that outside of God’s salvation we are rebels against God and we will perish. The greatness of God’s love is seen in the fact that He loved such a sinful world and that he made the greatest possible sacrifice – in giving His one and only Son.
