On the day of Pentecost, Peter preached this sermon explaining the reason for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Peter's sermon focused on Jesus Christ as the exalted Lord. When the people who heard his message were convicted of their sin and asked what they could do, Peter urged them to repent and be baptized to receive the forgiveness of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit. Baptism can only be appreciated when we understand something of the glory of the exalted Lord Jesus and the seriousness of our sins.
