“What that means in practice is that our use and enjoyment of our possessions will nurture our relationship with God rather than diminish our relationship with God. If we receive God’s gifts with thanksgiving it will increase our love for God and our respect for God. If we receive God’s gifts without thanksgiving it will be a barrier in our relationship with God. So there is a way that our enjoyment of our possession contributes to having God as our only God. And that is a beautiful thing. It contributes immensely to our enjoyment of our possession if that enjoyment treasures the love and generosity of God.”

Enjoying Life!
Read: Ecclesiastes 5:18-20
“So, the enjoyment of life that Ecclesiastes is speaking about in these verses is the enjoyment of life with its pleasures as a gift of God. It is the gift of God part that makes the difference between an empty life and a life of profound enjoyment. Then the foundation of the enjoyment is the generosity of God. The enjoyment is in the goodness of God as well as the pleasure in the gift. And because of that there is a contentment with one’s lot. One’s lot in life is a gift of God who distributes his gifts in love and wisdom.”

Right and Wrong Attitudes Towards Work
“The gospel strikes at the heart of envy and rivalry and wanting to outshine others, because the gospel gives us the mind of Christ who came not to be served but to serve and to give his life for others. By the example of Christ and by the power of his resurrection, believers are enabled to put to death the lust for wanting to outshine others and to begin to love others and serve others and rejoice when they rejoice rather than resenting their successes and blessings.”
